Read to me my rights

Children are universally protected by a country's set of legal rights. These rights ensure that the children can have the equal protection of the law and that they are guaranteed of fair and just treatment of others. The legal rights of the child were developed protect children from abuses of all kinds and give them the equal opportunity at education and other legal impediments. Children have a special place in the eyes of the law and they enjoy the treatment because these rights were meant to give them a head start in life.

Because children are the heirs to the world, laws were built in place to protect their interest and their future. But because of handicaps, some children are not treated equally by those that see them as unfit and non-competitive. Disability ridden children are often times the victims of prejudice. They are set aside in the favor of those that are labeled as competitive and promising. Children that are deaf, mute, handicapped and have mental incapacities are often times the odd child out.

Because of this countries like the United States have passed laws that are especially tailor fitted for the situation of the individuals, especially children, which have disabilities. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act specifically states that children that are deaf, mute, dumb and have autism be entitled to the equal treatment of the education system but have specialized programs that will help them in their quest for an education.

In children with autism, the law states that for the child to have an education in public schools they must first undergo the evaluation of an expert to determine the level of severity of the child's autism. This allows the expert to determine the kind program that child should have and his recommendations would be taken into consideration by the school district that the parent has gone to. With the evaluation in the hands of the parents, the school board will then forward the contact program that the child could be started in. this will be the first step in the child's learning process. Because children with autism have the tendency to have regressions or the stage of normal development of all psycho-motor and communication skills and then lapse into loss of social skills, the program should be tailor fitted to the child's condition.

This is just one step closer to giving the child with autism an education and a future, because parents do not last two lifetimes children with autism would need the social skills to survive in this world. And the IDEA is just one of those rights that allow special children to be prepared in the life they have ahead.

Other than the right to education children with special needs have also the full protection of the international rights of a child. These set of guidelines are the core foundation of any child protection law that was passed all over the world, the right to education being one of them. Among other legal rights children with autism are also entitled to being protected from any from of abuse even from their own parents and they also enjoy the sacred right of the child to enjoy play.

Children all over the world are protected by law form any form of abuse and discrimination by other people and because disability ridden children need special protection from that situation their legal rights have to be more specific in naming their needs and their concerns.
